😔Because of that whole thing with another paid subscription site taking fics, ai scraping works, and guest comments often inviting jerks or bots I've unfortunately made all my works & comments restricted.What does this mean?🤔

😢I've been putting this off for years because I think free work should be for all 'nice people'. Yes, I said people. Not to be abused, spit on, stolen by bots, people who think they can take advantage, or be a jerk to authors doing this out of love of the fandom. I'm sick of it. I do this because I enjoy writing and love scarabedo. I'm not here to be yelled at in comments that I'm not good enough, fast enough, or whatever gripe anon decides to complain about me today.
I'm human. I have a life. Things take time to type. I take hours, days, and months to finish chapters and fics because I want them to be good. I want to look back at my own work and smile, chuckle, scoff, and roll my eyes. The best feeling in the world is rereading one of my old fics and thinking,
'damn, even years later... I like it.'
because I've written stuff to appease commentors who have rushed me or complained that I need to write the story a certain way only for me to hate the work later and wished I had never written it in the first place since I changed everything I planned for it in the first place. (Comments guessing what might happen, being nice, or having fun is totally fine. I'm talking about ones nagging, complaining, insulting, and whining that I need to write better.) I get sometimes I take forever to update some works. It can take years sometimes, but I do work on them. They're in my drafts and I try to get to them. Last chapters are hard for me on long fics. Not only is it a fair well from the author but I have to make sure that sucker has wrapped up all the issues in the entire work and ends on a note that feels appropriate for the fic. Not as easy as you think once you get past 60k+ words. The longer the harder and I know people will never be happy with whatever I end on. Someone always complains either on social media or in the comments. I can't win. All I can do is make sure I write an ending I like because I know people will complain no matter what. (Which makes it difficult to post because criticism is hard to swallow.)-I don't want every time I post something to wonder in the back of my mind if it's going to be scrapped and used for a character chat bot or writing ai bot. My work is for myself first and for readers who love the ship 2nd, not for other people to take and make into a word vomit ai.
-I love hosting events because it gives a place for new and old scarabedo fans to meet up. We can create and be awesome, but when there's bad apples out there it makes it so much more difficult to do anything for the fandom and lose motivation to share. I want to keep my work for myself when I feel disrespected.For now:
My works are restricted. If things get worse then I might have to get more drastic when it comes to sharing my work.
I'm not here for popularity. (I wouldn't be writing a rarepair for over 4 years) I'm not doing it for stats. (You kidding me. People hide in private bookmarks and subs) I'm not here for money. (I rarely ask for commissions unless I have a huge emergency irl and even then I'm embarrassed to ask for help. I've had 2 commissions and one donation over the 4+ years I've been writing. So I'm not making much if anything for how much I put into this.)
The only reason I do this is because I love scarabedo and I want to share my love for the ship with other like minded people. I write fics for myself and share what I've written because some people enjoy them. I host events because I want to encourage people to create cool things too!Maybe in the future my works will be open to everyone but in this current climate, I'm uncomfortable leaving them out there in the open to be abused by rude disrespectful people.
